  • In coordinated actions by the Security Cabinet, arrests, searches, and seizures of firearms, and various drugs were carried out in the states of Baja California, Durango, Guerrero, Jalisco, Nayarit, Nuevo León, Oaxaca, Puebla, Querétaro, Sinaloa, Sonora, Tamaulipas, and Veracruz.
  • In Nayarit, members of the Mexican Army and National Guard (GN) seized 20 magazines, 2,827 cartridges, and tactical equipment.
  • In Sinaloa, members of the Navy Secretariat (Semar) seized eight vehicles, two of which had homemade armor, and a weapons cache of 17 long guns, 1,854 cartridges of various calibers, 36 improvised explosive devices, and miscellaneous material.
  • In Sonora, members of the Mexican Army and GN carried out a review of a truck, seizing 380 kilograms of cocaine and arresting the driver. The economic impact of the seized drugs is 94.1 million pesos.

The Security Cabinet reports these relevant events from Wednesday, February 5, 2025, as part of the National Security Strategy, which includes four action pillars: Addressing root causes; Consolidating the National Guard; Strengthening intelligence and investigations; and Coordinating with federal entities.


BAJA CALIFORNIA:

  • In Tijuana, members of the Mexican Army, National Guard (GN), and the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) raided a property, arrested two people, and seized a long gun, a handgun, and a vehicle.

MEXICO CITY:

  • In the Iztapalapa borough, personnel from the Navy Secretariat (Semar) provided perimeter security to the Secretary of Citizen Security (SSC) during an inspection of modules at the Preventive Men’s Prison South, where they seized 53 doses of drugs, three bottles of solvents, a microwave oven, eight screens, 33 speakers, three screwdrivers, 87 caps, two DVDs, 25 chargers, 24 USBs, 15 cell phones, 17 pipes, five headphones, eight tips, and 31 cigarette sheets.

GUERRERO:

  • In Iguala, at the Regional Social Reintegration Center, State Police and Penitentiary Security controlled a brawl that occurred in the Male Dormitory.

JALISCO:

  • In Guadalajara, elements of the Mexican Army, GN, FGR, and the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) executed two arrest warrants and raided 15 properties, arresting two individuals. They seized three long guns, one handgun, 15 magazines, 258 cartridges, 15,000 liters of hydrocarbons, 100 grams of marijuana, one truck, six semi-trucks, two razers, and an ATV. The detained individuals were part of a cell involved in fuel theft.
  • In the municipality of Ojuelos, members of the Mexican Army, GN, and State Police arrested three people and seized a handgun and a stolen vehicle.

NAYARIT:

  • In the municipality of Huajicori, members of the Mexican Army and GN seized 20 magazines, 2,827 cartridges, and tactical equipment.
  • In El Tacote, during the “Sable Operation,” personnel from Semar seized 516 cartridges of various calibers, 36 improvised explosive devices, three magazines, 72 kilograms and 13 doses of marijuana, and miscellaneous material.

NEW LEON:

  • In General Bravo, in the Venadito trail, State Police seized five firearms and a vehicle.
  • In Salinas Victoria, members of the Mexican Army, GN, State Prosecutor’s Office, and State Police arrested a man, seizing a handgun and various doses of methamphetamine.

OAXACA:

  • In various actions, elements of the Mexican Army, GN, Semar, and FGR, during surveillance patrols, achieved the following results:
    • In Pinotepa Nacional, they arrested two people, seizing 68 doses of methamphetamine and a vehicle. In Santiago Jamiltepec, they arrested one person, seizing 16 doses of methamphetamine and a vehicle.
    • In Juchitán de Zaragoza, members of the Mexican Army and GN, during surveillance patrols, seized 219 doses of methamphetamine.

PUEBLA:

  • Elements of the Mexican Army, Semar, State Police, and Municipal Police, based on intelligence information, carried out the following arrests and seizures:
    • In the municipality of Teziutlán, they arrested a person, seizing a handgun, a magazine, 15 cartridges, and a vehicle.
    • In San Martín Texmelucan, they arrested two people, seizing 59 doses of cocaine, 49 doses of crystal meth, and eight cartridges.

SINALOA:

  • In Cósala, during a surveillance patrol in the town of Ibonía, elements of Semar seized eight vehicles, two of which had homemade armor, 17 long guns, 1,854 cartridges of various calibers, 36 improvised explosive devices, and miscellaneous material.
  • In Culiacán, members of the Mexican Army, GN, and State Police, during an inspection of the Aguaruto Penitentiary Center cells, seized an internet modem and knives.
  • In Culiacán, members of the Mexican Army seized two vehicles, 145 doses of marijuana, and 264 marijuana cigarettes.
  • In Angostura, members of the Mexican Army seized 710 doses of methamphetamine, 320 doses of cocaine, 106 doses of marijuana, and 18 marijuana cigarettes.
  • In Mazatlán, elements of the Mexican Army, Semar, GN, FGR, and SSPC arrested Rogelio “N,” who had an arrest warrant for homicide in Durango and is linked to the use of explosives to create violence in Sinaloa, Durango, and Coahuila.
  • In Navolato, through intelligence efforts, members of the Mexican Army seized four long guns, 29 magazines, 1,562 cartridges, 16 improvised explosive devices, tactical gear, and two vehicles.

SONORA:

  • In Nogales, members of the Mexican Army and the State Attorney General’s Office executed a technical investigation order, arresting two people and seizing 35 doses of methamphetamine and two vehicles.

In various actions, elements of the Mexican Army, during surveillance patrols, obtained the following results:

  • In Magdalena de Kino, they seized a long gun, five magazines, and 65 cartridges. In San Luis Rio Colorado, they seized seven magazines, 183 cartridges, and a tactical vest with two ballistic plates. In Nogales, they seized four magazines, 117 cartridges, and a stolen vehicle.
  • In San Ignacio Río Muerto, members of the Mexican Army and State Police seized two long guns, five magazines, 180 cartridges, tactical gear, and a vehicle.
  • In San Luis Río Colorado, members of the GN and Customs, during an inspection of a vehicle, arrested a minor foreign woman, seizing a Minimí machine gun, a handgun, 6,440 cartridges, and a vehicle.
  • Also in San Luis Río Colorado, based on intelligence work, elements of the Mexican Army and GN, stationed at the “Cucapah” strategic military checkpoint, carried out a review of a semi-truck coming from Guadalajara, Jalisco, bound for Tijuana. They arrested the driver and seized 380 kilograms of cocaine.

The total economic impact to organized crime from the seized drugs is 94.1 million pesos.

  • In various municipalities, elements of Semar, the Criminal Investigation Agency (AMIC), and Municipal Police, in the development of the “Sable Operation,” made the following seizures:
    • In the vicinity of the town of San Carlos, in the municipality of Guaymas, they located a person and seized two handguns, various cartridges, a magazine, tire deflators, and a vehicle.
    • In Ciudad Obregón, Cajeme, they arrested a person with an arrest warrant for attempted aggravated femicide.
    • In the Hidalgo neighborhood, Cajeme, they arrested three people linked to a criminal cell, seizing 64 doses of methamphetamine, three doses of marijuana, a cartridge, and cash.

TAMAULIPAS:

  • In Reynosa, through intelligence efforts, members of the Mexican Army seized a long gun, 15 magazines, 420 cartridges, two tactical vests, and a stolen vehicle.
  • In Valle Hermoso, through intelligence work, elements of the Mexican Army seized three long guns, 27 magazines, 681 cartridges, and a vehicle with homemade armor.

VERACRUZ:

  • In Teocelo, members of the Mexican Army, GN, and FGR raided a property, arresting four people. They seized a long gun, two handguns, various doses of drugs, four motorcycles, and two vehicles.

WORK AGAINST DRUG PRODUCTION AND TRAFFICKING: In Chihuahua, Sinaloa, Durango, Guerrero, and Oaxaca, personnel from the Mexican Army and Air Force, during land and aerial reconnaissance, located and destroyed 208 poppy plantations in 20 hectares and 118 marijuana plantations in 11 hectares.

In Del Nayar, Nayarit, based on intelligence information, elements of Semar located and eradicated six poppy plantations in an area of 23,700 square meters with approximately 592,500 poppy plants.

In Tamazula, Durango, in the town of Carricitos, as a result of intelligence work, personnel from the Navy Secretariat and FGR located and neutralized a clandestine laboratory. They seized 5,900 liters of liquid chemicals used to make synthetic drugs, 990 kilograms of solid chemicals, and a shovel.

In Culiacán, Sinaloa, elements of the Mexican Army located and seized a clandestine methamphetamine production laboratory and nine production areas, where they seized 2,160 liters of acetone, 1,400 liters of alcohol, 810 liters of chemicals for methamphetamine production, 170 liters of chlorine, 150 liters of caustic soda, 150 liters of hydrochloric acid, 150 liters of sulfuric acid, 80 liters of ethanol, 60 liters of benzyl alcohol, 40 liters of bromonicotinic acid, 600 kilograms of bromocitosina, 270 kilograms of subacetone, 175 kilograms of caustic soda, 11 organic synthesis reactors, one condenser, two distillers, two gas L.P. tanks, and 55 containers of various capacities.

The economic impact on criminal organizations is 572 million pesos.


STRATEGY TO COMBAT FUEL THEFT: As part of the Strategy to Combat Fuel Theft in the Country, elements of the Mexican Army located 12 illegal taps: two in Querétaro, eight in Jalisco, and two in Hidalgo.

From January 30 to February 5, 2025, in Puebla, elements of the Navy Secretariat and PEMEX seized six illegal taps connected to the Tuxpan-Azcapotzalco pipeline and recovered 25,700 liters of fuel.


ILLEGAL FISHING AND PROHIBITED NETS: From January 30 to February 5, in various states, personnel from the Navy Secretariat and CONAPESCA seized a total of 7,810 kilograms of marine products and eight fishing nets measuring 1,139 meters.

In 2025, a total of 12,260 kilograms of marine products and 59 prohibited fishing nets measuring 389,265 meters have been seized.
